Gold is one of Tanzania’s primary mineral resources. Gold exports are growing in importance for investment reasons as well as for its use in the electronics industry. Gold is most commonly extracted from the ore by the process of cyanide leaching. The finely ground ore, which contains free gold, is mixed with a potassium cyanide solution. The gold is bound in the dissolved solution into carbon pellets from which the pure material is separated by electrolysis.
The tailings are purchased from local mining companies. We are currently in negotiations to buy a prospective mine with good mining potential. This will allow us to process our own tailings even more efficiently.
We currently process the ore in a leased plant with a capacity of approximately 500 tonnes of tailings per month. From this amount we extract approximately 500 grams of gold, which we sell on the local market.
We are currently in the process of building our own factory with a higher capacity. With further investments, we intend to gradually expand production to a capacity of around 10 kilograms of raw gold per month.
